Third Teaching Practice

Describe

My last class was a little different, I failed in a very important aspect. As teachers, we have to know the boundaries between teaching and playing, unfortunately in my last class I played with the students for the whole hour which distorted the class, some students got bored of playing and were not interested anymore in the game, others started making other things and so on...

The development of the class wasn't wat I expected since I overused gaming in the classroom, I got involved because I was having fun and that was what ruined the momentum in the classroom without noticing that some students were bored and tired of the game that was being played.

I know that there is a time for playing and a time for working, unfortunately I did not realize what was happening in the class, I got involved too much into the playing which is not right and the learning process is not based only on playing even though you lear more when you are having fun and loving what you are doing

In the future, I must not get too involved in the playing but in the teaching part.

Less time for games should be arranged in the plan.

Better instructions have to be given to the students and stablish ground rules in the class before playing games.

Teaching Practices

Describe

In the couple of classes that I've taught, I could notice that the students of Advance English II are very confident, they are very active when it's referred to participation; furthermore, they are not messy nor noisy. The students are very respectful and they always have something to add to the class development. I've set the students to work in couples, groups, and individually. I've used materials as the blackboard, charts, CD player, and others.

Developing activities with students is a great way of putting into practice what they have already studied. Activities not only allow students to learn but also helps them to stress out during the class; however, the activities that will be developed in class have to be chosen very carefully, so they won't be too boring, too out of the topic, or too difficult.

Based on what I already know, students really love having activities during any class, so they won't feel that having only theory is so boring, they can share within the classroom and also learn at the same time.

Based on what I observed, students completely LOVE to develop any kind of activities. Students share, collaborate, and learn the same way as they have fun with the activities.

I believe that students would prefer to have only activities and zero theory, I think that they would learn but not as well as having some theory around.

In the future, I will give better instructions and ask students if they understood because honestly I forgot to do that, also, I will take notes of the mistakes that students make on the class so I can correct those mistakes.
