Teaching Practices

Describe

In the couple of classes that I've taught, I could notice that the students of Advance English II are very confident, they are very active when it's referred to participation; furthermore, they are not messy nor noisy. The students are very respectful and they always have something to add to the class development. I've set the students to work in couples, groups, and individually. I've used materials as the blackboard, charts, CD player, and others.

Developing activities with students is a great way of putting into practice what they have already studied. Activities not only allow students to learn but also helps them to stress out during the class; however, the activities that will be developed in class have to be chosen very carefully, so they won't be too boring, too out of the topic, or too difficult.

Based on what I already know, students really love having activities during any class, so they won't feel that having only theory is so boring, they can share within the classroom and also learn at the same time.

Based on what I observed, students completely LOVE to develop any kind of activities. Students share, collaborate, and learn the same way as they have fun with the activities.

I believe that students would prefer to have only activities and zero theory, I think that they would learn but not as well as having some theory around.

In the future, I will give better instructions and ask students if they understood because honestly I forgot to do that, also, I will take notes of the mistakes that students make on the class so I can correct those mistakes.

  1. Hi Edward, it is really nice to read how involved the students are in your classes. I believe that, those kind of actions encourage the teacher to prepare more interesting activities to be developed in class and students learn and have fun at the same time. Great Job :)

  3. Well done Edward! Something nice you have mentioned is that activities have to be adapted to students' needs, proficiency and likes because that helps students to be more engaged in the development of practices :)
